AKU - 1 - CMC eye drops
COMPOSITION
Sodium caboxymethylcellulose 0.5% w/v
Stabilised oxychloro complex 0.005% w/v
as preservative

MODE OF ACTION
sodium CMC increases the viscosity of tear film thereby increasing the retention time.
sodium CMC works by decreasing surface tension of the tears so that they spread more easily on the surface of the eye and provide the necessary lubrication.
INDICATIONS
1 AKU 1 CMC Eye Drops are indicated for temporaty relief of burning, irritation and discomfort
due to dry eye or exposure to wind, dust, sun etc. May be used as a protectant against further irritation.
2 helpful in dry eye syndrome like computer and tv eye syndrome,
foreign body sensation in eye,gritty sensation,tired eyes,itching and pain sensation in eyes
3 post lasik surgery
HOW TO USE
For best results, use exactly as directed for the full time prescribed.
Stopping this medication too soon may result in a relapse of the infection.To apply AKU-1-CMC eye drops, wash hands first. To avoid contamination, do not let the dropper tip touch any surface.
Tilt your head back, gaze upward and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch.
Place the dropper directly over eye and instill the prescribed number of drops.
Look downward and gently close your eye for 1 to 2 minutes.
Place one finger at the corner of the eye near the nose and apply gentle pressure.
This will prevent the medication from draining away from the eye.
Try not to blink and do not rub the eye. Do not rinse the dropper.
If you are using other kinds of eye drops, wait at least five minutes before applying the other medications.
Do not wear contact lenses while you are using this medicine.
DOSAGE
one drop in the affected eye 4 times a day
CONTRAINDICATIONS
AKU 1 CMC eye drops are contraindicated in patients with previously demonstrated hypersensitivty to any of the ingredients in the formulation.
ADVERSE REACTIONS
AKU1 CMC eye drops are ell tolerated but occasionally stinging,burning,red eyes or allergic reactions can occur after instillation
PRECAUTIONS
Discontinue use if you experience eye pain,changes in vision,continued redness or irritation of the eye,or if the condition worsens or persists for more than 72 hours. if solution changes colour,do not use.

1 CMC was more effective than HPMC in controlling dry eye symptoms and preserving ocular surface health in the immediate postoperative period in myopic post LASIK patients
